This tutorial explains how to combine DRemind and BackUp to do scheduled backup quick and easy. First of you need to download DRemind and BackUp from our homepage (click the download ink or on the program names above).

Now we assume you have unarchived the program and installed it on your computer.
Ok, then let's start DRemind at once then ;-)

Locate and click the button named 'Call Preference editor and Reload' (see picture below).

DRemind

This introduces us to yet another window, the prefs editor of DRemind. Locate and press the "Add" button (see picture below).

DRemind

Now it's time to add a reminder for the backup purpose, in this example we would like to backup our Workbench installation once a week (on sundays at eight o'clock), so we specify this in the reminder so we know what's going on when it is triggered (see picture below).

DRemind

So now we have added a date and time for the reminder to be active, so let's bind some backup action to the reminder. We keep the preference program open but we select the "Option" tab and then select "Execute file". Now it's time to press the "File" button and select the BackUp tool, or in case we know its position just write it in the field (as shown in the picture below). To be able to use BackUp as a CLI tool we add some arguments to it (see the program docs for more information)

The complete line in our example looks like this :

C:BackUp SOURCE=Workbench: TARGET=Backup:Backup/Workbench/ BACKUP CLEAN SHELLMODE
Just to clearify, the BackUp program is located in C: and the source we like to backup is Workbench: and the target is located on a disk named Backup: which has some drawers for different backup locations.

DRemind

If you have more stuff that you like to backup, just restart reading this page and create yet another reminder and so on, and so on... =) Don't forget to press the "Save" button and then the "Continue" button (in DRemind) after the new settings has been loaded. Now if everything went well, you should have a working sheduled backup system. =)
